The firemen will run an excursion to Hamilton in August, the Epworth League, one to Niagara Falls, also in the latter half of June. The Oddfellows hold their great demonstration on June 21st and the Sons of Scotland annval day add one more rose to its wreath honor. The party who for some years past has offered $5 in gold for the best kept bouleyard in town, will repeat the prize this year if a second prize is contributed. The He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, five daughters, Mrs Robt. Mills and Mrs W. G. Ross, of Tilbury, Ort., Mrs W. A. Mills and Mrs J. A. Grant, of Forest, Manitoba, and Miss E. Alice Smith, at present on a yisit to her sister‘s in the West, five sons, Rev Dr J. F. Smith, Comber, Ont., T. C. Smith, B. A., of Smith‘s Falls High School, Donald and William on the homestead and Lewis Smith, of Avonhurst, Saskatchewan. His sister, Mrs Alex Black, of Oik River, Manitoba, is the only member living of the family of eleyen, who left Sectland in 1841. Mr Smith will be much missed in the vicinity, for he was always actâ€" ive and interested in the political soâ€" cial and religious life of the country. He was a member of the Presbyterâ€" iarn Church at Dornoch, where for many years he acted on the board of management, being on® of the first managers appointed when the first church was built. He was also at one time a member,of the Holland Township Council and License Comâ€" missioner for the district. He lived on the farm, where he died, for the past sixtyâ€"three years having settled there with his father, the late James Smith and other mem. bers ofa large family in 1843. He was a native of Invernesshire, Scotâ€" land, and at the age of twelve years came with the family to Fraserfield, Glengary County, where they reâ€" mained for two years. They then came west and settled in the bush, ten miles north of what is now Durâ€" ham, for at that time it was a wilderâ€" ness from Fergas to Owen Sound, the Garafraxa road not being built until. 1846. ‘ astor, Rev N.
