His wife predeceased him over two years ago, consequently the old gentleman was living alone. till ha moved with his daughter and family as stated. In religion Mr McKinnon was a Presbyterian and was a faithful at. tendant long years ago in conducting prayerâ€"meeting with others in the locality he resided in. He was zealâ€" ous in upholding his native lanounes. The Jubilee of the Presbyterian church in this town is expected to take place on the last Sunday in June and the 1st Sunday in July, and an entertainment on the following Monâ€" day evening after the July service. Rev Buchanan of Dundalk to preach on June 23rd and Revy Alex McGillivâ€" ray of Toronto on the 1st Sunday in July. Rev Finlay Matheson of Chatsâ€" worth will be at this entertainment along with others expected. ___DIEDâ€"On the morning of 18 May, Mr Hector McKinnon, native of the Isle of Tyres, Argyleshire, Seotland, at the age of 81 years. _ Mr McKinâ€" non was one of the old pionsers of the 8 Line, Glenelg coming there and settling on Lot 50, con. 2, S. D. RA, in the year 1851.h About 15 years mm ho unsX ie uit 4i . Bornâ€"To Mr, and Mrs. Wm. Mcâ€" Leod, Top Cliffo, on Thursday evenâ€" ing, 16th May, a daughter. _ Mother and daughter are doing well, Mr Chas MeDonald of Bruce, paid a short visit to this part lately on a business trip. Mr Reid, Insuranco agent for Grey and Bruce Co. made a call last week, He can go on his bicycle yet as liyely as a 21 year old boy. This week we have a birth and two deaths to report. Mrs. McTannel of Durham, spent sometime at Wm Mceleod‘s Jr., S. Line last week and part of this. ’ Mr Jobhn MceArthur Jr., is spending a whils at bome in Priceville and is glad to be relieved from College life for a while to enjoy the bracing air of Priceville hills for a few months beâ€" fore going back again. Miss Meadie Hineks who spent some time in Toronto is enjoying herâ€" self at home in this town where she intends to remain all summer. The Rev. Mr. Matheson attendea meeting of Synod held in Toronto lase week. Two butchers in town so there will be no scarcity of meat all summer. Lots of flour to be kad at good reasâ€" onable prices, although inelined to be up in prices; however no reason of growling while 1t is under $5 a barrel. We remember the time when it was $12 a barrel and hard to find at that and the quality inferior to what is is now. Snowing this Monday, 20th Mayâ€" cold, wearing mitts and caps plough. ingâ€"Greenland‘s isy mountains sure. Our town is doing good business as all our business men are stmving to be upâ€"toâ€"date by keeping everything wanted on hand. Our hotels are doing fairly well: they have now passed over a year under local option and they seem to be as healthy and as good looking now as 18 months ago. Our sawmill is doing good bv;siness and the big piles of logs are getting thinned out pretty well. Railroading is the order of the time in Priceville ; the work is progressing fine. Colin Mclean‘s hill under the management of foreman Burtly is getâ€" ting lower but will take some time yet before it will come to a grade. The steam shovel is doing big work turnâ€" ing out as many as 250 carloads some days and everybody is on the move. Head foreman Murchie attends to his duties faithfully, consequently the work is progressing satisfactorily. This week we will try and giye some of the happenings of the past couple of weeks, as we haven‘t conâ€" tributed anything during that time. Beeding in general is atout done and some are planting their potatoes. Alshough the weather has been cold and frosty all spring there seems to be a growth as seed sown some three weeks ago has a greenish appearance alteady. _ Low lands kept very wet and hard to get on it until last week ; however as in olden times she seeding will be done on or before the 24th May which was considered good time to finish. ig alter the July service. nan of Dundalk to preach rd and Rev Alex McGillivâ€" nto on the 1st Sunday in Finlay Matheson of Chatsâ€" _ â€"~ °0 verween now, °e passing away Zbut all be ever green to ) left behind, when the hardships that Priceville â€"_ He was laid to THE DURHAM REVIEW cupied by Mr Legette ABwla‘sq ) _ __3 _ . Mr McDonald, is engineering in this town, running the steam shovel cars since work began early in the spring. And still another sad message came to Alex MeDonald, Enigneer, from the States, somewhere, of the death of his son there. The grief stricken father left immediately on roceiying the news. The sad news came by telegraph of the death of Mr Hugh Melnnes of Calgary a few days ago, brother to Mrs Duncan MceDonald, Durham road, Glenelg. Death must have come suddenly as only a few days ago Mra McDonald received a letter from her brother Jolhin Mclones from Calgary, whan all was well. Mr Mc lunes moved to Calgary 27 years ago, where he accumulated large property. He never was married.
