WATSON, Principa BRITISH AMERICAN BUSINESS COLLEGE & McILRAITH 'eOp]e's Druggist Mrs Collinson and little son, Gibson left on Saturday tor Ayr, to visit Mrs C‘s sister. Look out for Hampden picnis this year. Prefparations are already beâ€" ing made for it. Mr John Sharp spent the beginning of the week helping his brothers here, his own land being too wet to work. Miss Rassell arrived Tuesday on yisit to her sister Mrs A. Anderson. Miss Anderson left last Tucsday after a prolonged v.sit with her brother here. It will be remembered that prevâ€" ious to the close of the session of 1905 Mr Foster announced his intention of delivering a stinging criticism of the government extrayaganceâ€"in fact, he gave notice that he intended to address himself to the question of exâ€" cessiye public expenditures, What happened? The government passed the penainn bill, giving to ex cabinet ministers a sum of $3,500 per annum What did Mr Foster do? ?)id he say, I cannot accept this money. I was paid a good salary while Minister ot the ctown, and I am able to earn a good salary in addition to my indemâ€" nity ot $2,500 as member of parlia-{ _ ment? No. Hedid none of these things, neither did he say the public ex(fen- ditures should not be increased to this extent. What he did do was to accept the money, and drop his conâ€" templated protest against excessive public expenditures. Mr Foster is only human, and be took the money and the announced criticism failed to materialize. Cunsiderable progress has been made in flour blending in Ontario, and after nearly 10 years of experiment on the part of expert millers and bakers, the superior quality of the blended flour bas been demonstrated by the demand already created, There seems to be every reason in favor of the adoption by the people of Ontario in the use cf such a flour ; an increase in the milling of Ontario wheat means an enlarged market and money in the farmetr‘s pocket. _ If the manufacturers of the blended flours were merely in the experimental stage f arguments in fayor of its use generally throughout Ontario might prove inâ€" effective ; but now thit some of the largest wholesale bakers in Toronto are enthusiastic about the increased sales of bread made of blended flour for Ontario people, it is surely worth while to purchase am article which means increased prosperityall over the Banner Province of the Dominion. No proot is needed to convince the general public that the western Hour is "strouger." that is, richer in gluten, than its Ontario rival. â€" But that the flavor and color of Ontario flour is suâ€" perior must be conceded even by those wost interested in pushing the product of the prairie provinces, _ Down East, in the Kln.rilime Provinces, the demand for a firstâ€"class flour has led to the blending of the eastern and western wheats in such proportions â€" that enough gluten is added to the Ontario product to bring it up to the st rength of western flour, while retaining the delicate and tasty qualities for which Ontario flour is famous, This competition of the western wheat lands is a tremendous fact; in the aggregate the decline in the imarâ€" ket in Ontario for the flour manufacâ€" tured in this province bas amountad to a loss of millions to the farming community. During the last ten years the great milling industries of ‘the West bave been so extensively advertised in Onâ€" tario that many farmers have given up raising wheat. The farmer who formerly helped to make a wmarket for his homeâ€"grown product toâ€"day buys the western flour for family use, and \thus contributes to western prosperity instead of putting money into his own pockets by patronizing an Ontario inâ€" dustry, Ontario millers have been unâ€" able to run more thian cight or tep hours a day, and as a resulft, the price of hran and shorts has risen to twenty and twentyâ€"two dollars a ton, as comâ€" pared with the former prices of twelve to fifteen, in the palmy days of wheat growing in Ontario. e CC P CCCCRCC WIid the parents of all deat children with the hope of inducing them senq them 10 our school at Belleville, where they may receive such training and instrac tion as will fit them to become useful, selfâ€"supporting and respected citizens. It is a lamentable thing that any deaf boy or girl should be deprived of the advantages of such an education when it is freely provided for them by the people of ‘the Province. We earnestly hope the newspapers throughout Onâ€" tario will call attention to this matter as emphatically as possible and thus aid in this great work,~ What Made Him Change? fYe have reason to believe that there is a considerabie number of deaf children in this Province of school age who are not attending our Instiâ€" totion, but who should be doing so, We are dssirous of obtaining> the names and addresses, of the patents of all such children, and we earnestly appeal to the readers of these lines to assist us in securing this information, CUlergymans of all denominations, pbysicians, assessors, inspecters of schools and public school teachers are in an especially favorable position to assist us in this direction, and by so doiug, they would be conferring an inâ€" estimable boon to these silent memâ€" bers of the community. An Earnest Appeal correspondence with This will have to be done and it will be a cold day for our Provincial rulers if they allow this secession _ movement to gain much more headâ€" way. New Ontario was won by the Liberal party for the Province uf which it is an integral part, its first pioneers we take it are reasonable men, and there should be little or no difficulty for men with a Provincial out look to strike the golden meunl and retain the vast north_part of the province as a necessary complement of the south, each part in its way a benefit to the other. There are two sides to this story and we fancy it could be shown that a great deal of Old Ontario money was spent in the district. However there can be no question that as the districts progress they should be dealt with increasingly â€"liberally leaving no suspicion of injustice. tion. There seems to be a body of New Ontario public opinion in favor of seâ€" ceding from old Ontario, largely for the reason that an unfair use is made of the wealth of the north, too much of it spent in old Ontario and very little returned to the place of producâ€" bian W†F °“";‘;~w hoh |,Tor . | Apugh Stocut® Baking Ssociurt lf you require oils of any kind try us for such as coal oil (both Amâ€" erican and Canadian), linseed oil, (raw and oiled), Machine Oil, Cyâ€" linder Oil, Sepatrator Oil, Sewing Machine oil, HMarness oil, carriage oil, Axle and cup greases, turpenâ€" tine, Benzine, Gasoline, etc. We always have a full line of stoves, ranges, Tinware, Granâ€" ware, shelf and heavy hasdware Glass, etc, We also have all other lines for painters and decorator‘s use, such as Alabastine, Paints, Oils, Brushes, etc. Use A Blended Flour See GO_‘Car tS & Baby Carâ€" nages Remember we have a full line of the very latest style of Goâ€"Carts and carriages and we SELL them but at the right prices.
