In conclusion I would urge on all that, have;a leaning toward Liberalism t» come out on Monday the 8th June and cast their votes in plain crosses in favor of McCannel without fear or favor, By so doing the old south ridiog of Grey will be restored to its former stand in years gone by and will show that Mr. McCannel has more friends in South Grey than the Editor of the Durham Chronicle predicts. I am yours. As for the necessary qualification required to fullil the office of an M. P. P. 1 think Mr. McCannel although he hasn‘t the suffix M. D. t> his name, is as capable to fill the office as our f:iemrlhe UDt. and if it was necessary ten more reasons might be given why Mr, McCannel sbould e supported. It is said that the Dr. cannot be excelled as a representative of South Grey and that he should be reâ€"elected. Well let us see. At the last session of the Ontario Parliament our friend the Dr. brought up a motion in the house to the effect of having a trienial assessment or in plainer words to have the assessment done every three years, whether this was a bunkum motion or not we cannot say but howâ€" ever it was yoted down by the Dr‘s own party, _ Now if our good friend the Dr. had weight with his party the motion ought to carry for it was a reasonable one but he forgot to add to have the assessment done in a more suitable time than it has been for ages past, i. e. commencing on the 15th February. 1 I do not wish to get into the Editor‘s clutches nor do I intend to become his antngonist through the press but it really makes a person feel blue when ke sees a gentlâ€"man like Mr. McCanâ€" nel sneered at by the Rditor of that paper, As for the necessare analifinatinn He says that mMcCannel is not a farmer: We beg to differ with him on that point for Mr, McCannel was one of the most successfal farmers in the Township of Glenelg and was raised on the farm he sold a couple years ago. It would be just as upplicnbfe to say that the Editor of the Duarham Chronâ€" icle wasn‘s a school teacher as to say that McCanne! wasn‘t a farmer for although he changed his occupation it did not deprivye him of his knowledge of how to teach school, _ In like manner Mr, McCannel being a pra> tical farmer knows the exact thing of farming consequently he holds a claim on the farming community to patronize him with their support at the coming election. In last week‘s Chronicle the Editor maxes a reply to the 10 reasons in the Reyiew why ratepayers should vote tor McCannel. To the Editor of the Review. Dear Sir, 10. Because Dr. Jamieson owing to his many cement and other interâ€" ests cannot give and has not given the efficient service South Grey deâ€" serves and requires. 9. Because Dr. Jamieson when in opposition, wanted the nnmber of members reduced to 60, wanted the boundaries of constituencies to be fixed by judges, and redistribution only after a census, yet a few weeks ago he voted to increase the members to 110, to have a redistribution, even when there was no census, and that a committee ot 5 Conservatives and 3 Liberals should change the Constitâ€" uencies. 8. Because of the government‘s lack of trust in the people that gave them their big majority, as shown by the unnecessary Redistribution Act and the manifest intention shown therein to increase the Conservative chances, especially in Toronto. 7. Becausethe government bungâ€" ling and procrastination on the power question resulted in losing fbr the Province the vaiuable asset of Niagara power. 6. Because the Conservative treatâ€" ment of Northern Ontario has led to a dangerous secessiou movement. 5. Because of the muddling they made of School legislation almost taking all power out of Trustees‘ hands, until the indignation of the public and pressure of the opposiâ€" tion compelled them to withdraw it. Besides, their vaciilating policy as to Model Schoois is not in the interest of the poor man. Egremont Council. A Soutnu GreEy Faryer 4thâ€"Lizzie Burns, Willie Wallace. Arthur Gadd.
