Here one views an attractive_and well stocked show room, with Miss Donohue as head trimmer, â€" Many beautiful headâ€" wear creations are on disrluy, the leadâ€" ing shades being canard blue, toque, and greens in emerald and bronze. Large hats are very common this season, though my lady may have any size, reasonable or unreasonable she wishes. On several of the hats shown we noâ€" ticed fringes, cords and tassels; these in addition to the braided bands and cabochons, lend a tonch clegance, like that given by the use of soutache in millinery. _ One pretty white felt was shown trimmed with a feather bandeau of Irish green, overlapped by an orientâ€" al bandeau and set off with ornaménts of Japanese design. Anew creation was the Directoire in white plumes with gold cord and tassels. â€" Specially for young girls a Corday hat was shown, trimmed with a Pocahontes feather bandeau. $1.00 only for the Review to new readers to Jan. 1, 1910. 25¢ for balance of the year. We specially noticed among these a large New York hat, faced with white, lew crown with Persian bandeau and Perâ€" sian wings ; a large white hat, high crown, white wings, gold buckle and gold bandeau with tassels ; a large pop: lar shade of grey hat, gray wings steel Many bargains in Ulothing at 8. Space permits but a brief mention of the beautifnl hand painted china and pictures Miss Bufig also has displayed and a new line in Durham. Tothe men, women, boys, young ladies and everyone, we would say, at least, see it. it is easily worth a visit and should prove a popular spot among the townspeople. 8. F. MORLOCK MISS DICK UISS BUGG +5 51 Branches H. H. Mockler were no fewer than five Collections of Vegetables and all were yery worthy samples. Seven entrics in Swede turnips were fewer than we |have seen in the past but the quality was good. _ ‘The onions were excelâ€" ilent and would indicate that the soil und the season haye been suitable. |The mangolds were not so robust as formerly but certainly fine spec:â€" mens. As we looked at the cabbage we wondered if they were smaller ‘than usual. or only dwarfed in our |eyes by jhaving seen fihe monster bursting specimens in A. C. Beaton‘s garden at Strathcona two weeks ago. But there, Strathcona can‘t grow apples like that long tablefal, though B. C. is not tar behind ftor a sample of apples and plums grown in the Pacific provinge is ticketed as being grown by Mr Malcolm Beaton, formerly of Rob Roy Corners. There is beautitul ’corn and potatoes, but we can‘t parâ€" | ticularize turther. !_ The number of entriecs in dairy 1products is out of all proportion to lthe importance of this industry. Why should this be? The speciâ€" mens shown must have caused some difficulty in judging. The Ladies‘ fancy work is beyond our ken, but it looked braw. _ We pretend to a betâ€" il:er knowledge of the ladies‘ work on the other side, i. e. the pies, cakes, buns, &e., and are prepared to say that it is at least equal to anything of the kind in Carada. There was keen competition in the bread classes, bat where was Mrs Morice this year ? of a pair of ironed rope tugs. T. Smith‘s robes, tanned by his new special process are attractiyeas eyer as one thinks of a coming winter. The competition in the Fino Arts class was almost ril, and but for the excellent display made by Mrs A. McClinton, would have been close to the yanishing point.
