Mr Allan was born 73 years ago at Orr in the South ot Scotland and came to Canada " an early age with his parents who settled in Grey Co. on new land which was known as the Queen 'g bush. While Mr. Allan helped his inner clear the land he found time to qual- ity as a sehool teacher and in.order to try for his teacher: certificate, he walked from his father‘s farm a little above the village ot Holstein to the town of Owen Sound by noon. It was such actions " this that char acterixed Mr Allan’s whole life, in fact he was in active harness up to 3 or 4 months before his death.
