Another week has come and gone, bringing with it more and terrible disaster and we almost tremble with fear for what the coming weeks may bring. Is it possible, as some of our great and good men think, that it is o o w T a chastisement for the carelessness and profligecy of the world. God punished the nations for their wickedâ€" ness in the olden times of Noah, Abâ€" raham and Moses. Might it not be so in our day, or is it just another phase in the working out of His great plan. Surely the ways of the Alâ€" mighty are past our understanding. Mr Sam Brooks, of the 2nd conâ€" tingent, paid a short visit to his unâ€" cle, Jas. Brooks; of this place, before leaving for the front. Part of this contingent, as we see by the papers, are already in the firing line. Just another fine, healthy looking young man gone to fight tor freedom‘s canse. All honor to our soldier laddies. Mrs Matheson attended the W. H. and F. M. Mrs Hermie McLean sang by request that good old patriotic song, *‘ Heroes and Gentliemen," which came home to the hearts of all and stirred their deepâ€" est feeling as never before and we are leargaing that Canad a too has plenty of heroes and gentlemen .
