His parents were English andhe was born near Elora in Nov 1836 two weeks after his parents came to America. When a child bhe came with them to their farm at Woodland and their he lived until twelve years ago when he went to Sault Qe Marie. Anoiher of Egremont‘s pioneers died on Wed July 18th when Mr Robâ€" ert Bye passed away ‘at the home of his eldest son in Sault Ste Marie, in his 81st year, | Oneof holstein‘s oldest residents passed away on Friday, July 20th in | the person of James Durant. He had attained the age of 84 years, being born Sept ist, 1833 in the county of | Waterioo near the village of Winterâ€" ‘bourne. The pall bear rs were two sons James and John; three sons inâ€"law, Mr G St Leger, Mr G Moses, Mr John Orchard and one grandson Mr Runciâ€" man . The funeral service was held on Monday at his home in Holstein and the remains taken to Mt Forest cemâ€" etery. _ Rev Wm Lovegrove officiatâ€" ed, assisted by Rev Mr Scott. Ten children were born to Mr and Mrs Durant, There are three boysâ€" | James in Mt Forest: Alyin in Tuxâ€" ford, Sask: John of Egremont.
