Macfarlane‘s Drug Store Owen Sound, Ont for Sale Are you prepared for it 2 _ With the prolonged cold winter we have just passed through, it is but natural to expect a quick and carly spring. Is it true that these tarmers have made such tortunes that they are able to m tire and live i1 idleness in the city ? For answer one has onlyv to examine the wills prob«sted by farâ€" mers who haye fined the (ireat Maâ€" jority . ‘Never in the history (f the provâ€" ince bas there been such selling of farms and retiring from active life as this year, city men, bucred aop with hope and spare cesh takirg up the burden. ‘ Tha above qaotation is from the Toronto World and carries its own warnin g. 4 Worn Out with the Struggle We have odd Borders and Csilings at Bargain prices soon be Here Gives greater satisfacâ€" tion than a nicely decâ€" orated room. A sptcial meeting of the County Council sheld last week in (O)wen Sound revealed the fact that there is decided opposition to (CGwen Sound cutting connection with Co Grey to become a city. It is freely charged that this would be a violation of an agreement enter ed into by the whole County includâ€" ing Owen Sound for a certain appropâ€" riation for Jgood roads and a withâ€" drawal now for the avowed purpose of fescaping obligation and saving several thousands of dollars, savors of selfishness _ A committee of four which includes Calder and Boyd, was appointed to safeguard the interests of the County before the Legislature or elsewhere We cannot but think that the honâ€" est business men representing Owen Sound in the Council will see the justice of sharing in the expense plannced for by them as a party to an agreement to which no objection was raised, and not try to slip out of the back door to escape respousibility . Of course granting an amicable settlement on this or similar points, there can be no aversion to the town‘s ambitions for city standing.
