The main fields me begin- ning to change color: the hay har. vest is done. Some have their tall wheat and barley garnered and oats are coloring fast and in some places will be ready to cut this week. When we were at school as a boy, we remember one of the lessons be- ing on William Tell shooting the an» pie off the head ot his son. Tell was given this privilege of some crime of which he was innocent but scene ed. if he shot the apple oft the son’s head he was spared, but if insteadthe arrow went into the innocent boy's forehead. Tell was to be punished That boy stood firmly, trusting in his father's steady nerve and the father, trusting in the Greater Father to be guided, the arrow went straight into the core of the apple. splitting it in- to shreds. What a joy! We see the father cheering his innocent boy's safety. We see again that boy who trusted in his father‘s nerve when in danger of being wrecked in a storm at sea. A great lesson here to trust in the higher and safer guard ahead of the earthly one. PRICEVILLE & GLENELG As we sit this morning we Bee cars running up and down as if the world were chasing them along at a last speed to be on time at their different occupations. During the last while, garden par- ties, picnics and jubilees were the order of the time. We read within- terest ot the Jubilee festivities there over 1 week ago. Presbyterlsns are to be congretuiated on their success for the occuston. We see the hood old veteran precentor of nearly 50 years,-- Wm mange was again " his old post. as lender of the choir. He would find his mny tsithhtl toot- prints in the my yesrs he trumped to Amos without unsung. attending to his falthtul duties. These treats are new all covered iron the neturel eitects of the travelling community. No omen then, no Book of Pulse. but the tor: old Psalms and Pers- phrases sang to such tunes es Mar. A gang ot men from Kimberley are busy putting in a new bridge on the townline, but the river has been so high. they can't do anything at we Bent, till the water goes down. It makes it very inconvenient to get to Priceville from the north, causing the trattle to go around by Mr D. Hincks' sideroad. Some of the buggies and wagons have gone through the river, but find the water very deep. Rev. Mr Corry occupied the pulpit in Murkdnle Sunday and Rev. Couus of Mtrkdale. preached here.
