The sad news was heard over the radio Tuesday evening that Rev. W. J. Burnett of Saskatoon, formerty of St, Marys, and Dromore, had died in that city‘noon of that day from pneuâ€" monia. ; 4 Miss Mary Ross who has been ill for some time is improving a little. Mrs Troup, who has been nursing her went home Monday. ,Our village is beginning to look a little like itself again. The train started going over the bridge Thursâ€" day night. Miss Dena Thorne spent the week end at home. She expects to be home most week ends for a time as she is doing a lot of towns and villages quite close. s There was a congregational meetâ€" ing in the United Church recently, when the calling of a pastor was considered . He has accepted a poâ€" sition in a creamery in Columbus, Ohio, and will leave for there shortâ€" ly. Miss Margaret Tyndall who has been home on sick leave is goâ€" ing back to the hospital in Oshawa this week. Mr Jas McCall, Mt Forest, is visitâ€" ing his daughter, Mrs McDougall, and son Geo. McCall. We were pleased to see Mr Peter Mutch in this village Monday. He has been ill all winter. This was the first illness he has ever had and we hope he may regain his usual health. Mrs W. Sharp, town, called on a few of the old neighbors last week. We farmers of Grey County should have a petition sent around and all sign, refusing to widen our sleighs and cutters. How in the heck is a car going to give half road with snow level with the fences. Plowing is the order of the day in this locality. Miss Thelma Wilson who has been teaching at Napanee, spent over the holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs W. J. Wilson. x Mr Mutch‘s friends are glad to see him able to go out again after being confined to the house for 3 months. Mrs W. J. Elgin Schenk left last week for Windsor. Mrs Dodds, Woodland, has been visiting her mother and brothers. At our church service Sunday, Mr Purnell spoke frdm Jer. 8, telling of the potter making a new vessel from the clay which had formed the first vessel. but which had been marred in the making. He compared it to our souls which are made in the imâ€" age of God and He has a pattern for each of our lives but by our sin we spoil the pattern. But if we are wilâ€" ling, God will create in us new, clean hearts and make us fit vessels for the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. With some of the others absent thre illness and other wise detained, Mrs Sharp very ably filled the chair and opened the meetâ€" ing in the usual way. After the opâ€" ening ode and repetition of the Lord‘s Prayer, Miss Vera Reay read a portion of scripture. The singing of "The Church in the Wildwood‘ taken from the Institute leaflet preceded the reading of the minutes of last meeting. The program consisted of a well prepared paper "Aims and Opâ€" portunities" by Mrs E Taylor, Hanoâ€" ver. Mrs F. Sutton, dist. representâ€" ative, also of Hanover, gave an inâ€" teresting talk on Institute work. Misses May and Myrtle Sharp favorâ€" ed the audience with a violin and guitar duet: Misses Myrtle Charlton and Evelyn McLean gave short readâ€" ings. At the close of the program, a tasty lunch was enjoyed served by a bevy of young ladies. The meeting adjourned to meet at the Orange Hall in Allan Park on May 8th.
