Watson who has been laid up with a severe attack of rheumatism, we are glad to say, is somewhat improved . The church was well filled last Thursday evening for our Sunday School entertainment. _ The lengthy and interesting program consisted of several dialogues, several choruses by the scholars and one by the choir, two drillsâ€"one a poppy drill, the girls being dressed in red with red andgreen caps: the other a flag drill with the girls in white and carrying flags. Much credit for the success of the concert is due to Miss McAlister, our teacher and to Miss Smith, who had several numbers from her pupils and also gave a recitation herself. We were glad to have Rev. and Mrs Armstrong of Durham with us, Mr. Armstrong spoke briefly and acted as chairman. _ About $36 was taken in at the door. Lunch was served at the close and during the evening the schâ€" clars were presented with books from the school. Nr Goforth, Toranto. took the serâ€" vice §§nday. He is the son of Dr J. Goforth, one of the pioneer missionâ€" aries of China, but now of Manchurâ€" ia and spent part of this summer with his parents there. He gave an ‘nt.er- esting account .of Manchuria,â€" almost a new mission field, its people are friendly and hungry for the gospel.
