Mr and Mrs Andrew Hunter are moving to their new home on the ercises preceding graduation which takes: place Friday and which her family expect to attend. Mr and Mrs D. McLean and baby, Teronto, paid a short visit to the latter‘s parents, Mr and Mrs Albert Mr David Allan is quite ill at time of writing. We hope he may soon be restored to his usual health. Mrâ€"and Mrs David Marshall spent Sunday evening with Mr and Mrs H. Williams in town. Congratulations to Miss ©Margaret Watson who recently completed her three years‘ training in London Hosâ€" pital. She received word just last week of having come first in her class numbering over 40. This entitles her to a free University course. She is in Rev. Mr Simpson, Whitby, formerâ€" ly of Glasgow, Scotland, took the serâ€" vices in Holstein and Fairbairn on Sunday, due to Rev Mr McMullen‘s illness, who is improving slowly. He hopes to resume work again shortly. Mr Simpson gave two sermons that will be remembered. In the morning, his subject was ‘A tower of Strength‘ and in the evening ‘Patience.‘ Dr McHenry of the Connaught Labâ€" oratory,. Toronto University, has been chosen to visit several large cities in Europe on research work this summer. Mrs McHenry (Effie Hastie) will accompany him. . They leave Toronto the latter part of June. The sacrament of the Lord‘s Supâ€" p>~ was dispensed Sunday, a large number being present and also a good attendance at S. School. _ The preparatory service Friday evening, was also well attended. _ Our pastor spoke on Sunday of the helpless man who was brought to Jesus to be healed. He had difficulty in getting close to the Master owing to the crowd, but he was in earnest and as a result he was healed soul and body. So will we be when we seek Him with our whole heart. Are we about our Father‘s business or are we more concerned about our own. The members of the choir were almost all present and sang "Open to Him.". Mr and Mrs Eccles, Egremont, visâ€" ited on Sunday with Mr and Mrs J. M. Marshall and attended service at The Grandmothers‘ meeting of the Women‘s Institute, took place at the home of the President, Mrs Thorne, 20 members being present. After the business was transacted, Mrs Mcâ€" Guire took charge and the program was given by the grandmothers, conâ€" sisting of choruses, reading by Mrs. Hastie: Solo, Mrs Thorne: duet, Mrs Leith and Mrs Hastie. His first wife, who was a Miss Walmsley of Yeovil, died several years ago. His present wife is a sister of Mr Henry Cowan. Amos Sunday School was reâ€"organâ€" ized on Sunday, May ist, when 57 scholars were present and are lookâ€" ing forward to seeing quite a numâ€" ber more of the children in~Amos district being present in the near future. The Young People‘s Club held a social evening and dance in the Orange Hall, Varney, on the evening of April 19. _ The orchestra supplied good music and an enjoyable evening was spent.
