S. 1Gram, who began by quoting personâ€" ‘al experiences he hadi near Dawson, when a listener inquired who he was |talking about and gave his assertion that there were thousands who had _never heard of the saving power of ‘Jesus Christ. The last message of Jesus was hard to understand, why Christ would give His life for degradâ€" ed sinners. He wants an entrance into your hearts _A reprieve from & Adeath sentence of a criminal, creates in him anestatic feeling of joy as he | the speaker has seen. How much so should a sinner hear the invitation ; of Christ. Opening the door is the sinâ€" ner‘s part. To meet the trials of the day successfully we must have the grace of God in our hearts, was the closing thought of this splendid serâ€" mon, fervently and eloquently given. | A fine solo setting of ‘Rock of Ages‘ |\ was given by Mr Kellough. Dedication of Priceviile Presbyterian Church ‘The opening services held in conâ€" nection with the now church, wore heli on Sunday, 2nd July, when Dr. A. S. Grant, onetime a missionary in the Yukon, gave fine sermons in the a.m. and p.m. meetings. Not being present at the initial meeting, we ire unable to quote or ~secure any facts, suffice to say the service was gooc, not alone in the preaching but in the music. Solos by Miss M. Johnâ€" stone of Claude and Messrs T. Meen and Gordon Brown, Toronto and a sciection by the home choir, "I was glad when they .said unto me," etc.‘ The church was filed to capacity. ‘ The church looked well in all its | prisiine beauty of ferns ard fiownzs,; gorgeous in color and variety. The stained glass windows too, emblazou-‘ ed with the names of Duncan and' Mary McDougall, Rebecca Nichol, Arch and Eliza McCuaig, Hector an(l! Catherine McLean and Donald and Janet McLean. l The male quartette, Owen Sound, C. Boorman, 1st tenor; G. Deidrick, 2nd tenor; G. Cutbush, 2nd bass and A. Kellough, 1st bass, sang "Crossing the Bar," after which Rev Mr Stracâ€" han, 0. Sound, led in prayer Evening Service At the evening service Rev Mr Mcâ€" Ivor after the doxology, called upon Rev Mr Moir of St Columba, who gave the intercessory prayer, followâ€" ed by that fine old standard Psaim, "O God our help in ages past,‘ this aâ€" gain followed by Miss Elizabeth Harâ€" ding in a solo, "There‘ll be no dark valley when Jesus comes" in a fire clear and sweet voice. The lesson was read by Rev Dr A. S Grant from Rev 21, 22. The singâ€" ing of a hymn was followed by a solo from Mrs Moore McFadden of Durâ€" ham, "O Lord Correct me" very feelâ€" ingly. Rev. Honeyman, Dromore, gave the long prayer, in which he acvised that unless the love of God was in their hearts their labor would be in vain. A duet by Messrs Boorâ€" man and Kellough, ‘Whispering Hope‘ displayed fine harmony. "I love thy kingdom Lord, the house of Thine abode,‘ sung by conâ€" grozation . After announcements a fine tenor solo was given by Mr. Boorman in fine controlled voice ‘Beâ€" hold I stand at the door and knock‘. Mr Mclvor expressed his appreciaâ€" tion to Dr Grant on behalf of the congregation, who would not fail to realize the benefit of his services, to the sister United congregation in canâ€" celiing their setvice, to those who had assistel musically and acknowâ€" ledged the generous assistance given by all toward the furnishing of the church. "Jesus shall reign wherc‘er the sun‘ closed a fine evening service with benediction given by Rev B. D. Armstrong, Durham. also gave a brief address which was all thoroughly enjoyed. The procaeds for Monday were $95. 25, and Sunday‘s proceeds were $198. Monday night a large crow1 was present at opening supper of the new church, when the Willing Helpers‘ Soc. served a bountiful meal, strawâ€" berries and cream, along with other eats that satisfy theinner man. The 0. S. quartette provided a splendid musical program of solos, duets, and quartettes, monologues, etc. The varâ€" ious clergy brought greetings: Rev. J. A. Moir from United Church, Rev. J. B. Snider, Dundalk; Rev B. D. Armstrong, Durham: Rev W H Mcâ€" Cracken, Bruce: Rev R. G. Stewart, Merritton: a student, D. Knoland, of 75. We regret to learn, yet thankful it was no worse with our young friend, Allie MciInnis, who, on his wayto the sun:mer school in Toronto, was run into by another mgorist who â€" was careless in properly observing the "stop" notice on the sideroad unon which he was travelling, upsetting Mr Mcinnis®‘ car and doing considerable injury to both himself and car. There was no service in Swinton church on Sunday on account of the church opening in Priceville. Nearly everyone in this locality attended one or more of the services. All proclaim the day a success, large congregaâ€" tions, good services and a beautiful church . But they, with us of Swinton Park, are again without a minister. _ Still we will keep hoping on. Next Sunâ€" day, Rev Mr Miller, Markdale, will conduct services as interim moderaâ€" tor and arrangements will be made On Wednesday night a miscellanâ€" eous shower was held in Agr‘l Hall, for Mr and Mrs Alex McLean, who were newlyâ€"wed. _ They were the reâ€" cipients of many beautiful gifts.
