Macâ€" mald of Harrow. ‘Irs Joe Porter attended the birth The community spirit is a grand thing to foster and never before perâ€" haps in Durham‘s history, were the people as much a unit in furthering the success of the event. It was a common remark previous to the datâ€" es set, that the celebration was a good thing if for nothing else than improving of properties. The hardâ€" ware men of town benefitted greatly in the gallors of paint that were put on homes, und each line of business benefitted in some way from the event. In general, Old Home Week was a good thing for the town. First and all in the gathering, was the great joy evidenced in friends meeting friends after many years of absence . Human interest â€" stories were numerous as they were wonder ful, and something which we have not time to write up this week. The bhandclasp perhaps was the most sigâ€" nificani feature of the event and the coming election date and the troubles in Europe received scant or no conâ€" sideration . It was _ rather "By George, but I am glad to see you," or "How long since I last saw you?". It was a real homeâ€"coming and the years rolled backward as formet doins‘ were discussed. io the general public they were nouw noticed, in the larger and successfu) staging o the program features. Any body wao has helped to stage â€" an alfair of the dimensions of Durham‘s Old Home Week, would be very small indeed, if they were critics as to how this one was carried out. Died at Pine Grove, Mont., on Augâ€" t 3rd, Angus Cameron, in his 85 ar formeriy of Boothville, Ont. mach and every official worked with a will to put the event across b‘ig, and because the weather man sent rain on Tuesday, is no reason to feel _ downâ€"hearted. There may have been minor hitches and mistakâ€" es in the carrying out of events, but Well it is all over!
