Their plans were detected in time and have been n‘pped in the bud by alert officials there. To furâ€" ther safeguard them, two extra paâ€" trol men are added to the staff. A> a result of the investigation, detecâ€" tives succeeded in finding three hack-‘ saw blades concealed in the coat la-! pel of one of the jailbirds. A further search revealed a pair of shoes in the same cell, which had both solâ€" es partly loosened. An examination revealed that the hackâ€" aw blades had been imbedded in the soles of these shoes. If the culottes and shorts are patterned after the style being , worn this year at the beaches our , merchants could be caid to have an open mind. I _ Lightning and thunder play havoc with more than buildings, and one such as played over the water on Sunday morning last, was a death stroke to a Chesley young lady, Ruth Warmington, aged 27, of Cheiley Post Office staff who was holidaying a couple of weeks at Port Elgin beach with her sister. The severe electric storm brought a heart condition on Mi.s Warmington, which ended â€" fatâ€" ally for her. Quebec province has gone Conserâ€" vative after nearly forty years of Liberal rule. We venture to say that it will not be that long before a Liberal Gov‘t is again returned to power. _ The psesent generation like to turn things over quicker. ‘ *# 0 # L # * There appears to be some difficulty in getting Hon. Peter Hepburn and Rev. Mr. Ferry together to get on an amiable footing. A good underâ€" standing of how far a premier can go in decrying somebody else, seems to us to be the needed thing. Mr. W.
