W. and Mrs. Johnston There was held today Monday, one of the saddest funerals for a long time, that of the little two-year old child of Mr and Mrs Roy MoDermid, whose death resulted from a severe scald some days pieviously. It was touching in the extreme to see the little child lying there so fair and angelic in appearance, as all dead children usually are it seems so be- fitting the words of the hymn sung: "He will gather -the gems tor His Kingdom." A large concourse of friends and neighbors gathered to pay their tribute of sympathy to the grief stricken parents and other relatives, in the death of this, their only child. The hymns sung were appropriate: "God sees the little sparrow tall", "When He cometh" and “Gracious Baviour, gentle shepherd". Rev. H. E. Wright conducting the service at the house and graveside, spoke feelingly and quoted many comforting passag~ es of scripture and that of Longfellow "The air is full of farewells" to the dying, "We shall behold her more fair", etc. The pallbearers were Mis- ses Evelyn and Viola McDermid, Flo. rence and Mary Catherine ‘McEachern. Flower girls were Frances Smith, Rosalie McKinnon. Anna Mae McIn- tyre, Anna Mae McEachern. Many varied and beautiful flowers testified to the sympathy of the contributors.
