There is little new in the locality. Everyone is looking forward to Spring, now that February is at an end. But has not February been a wonderful month ? steady, clear, cold but not extreme, and so little wind. Vre have enjoyed it. We notice snow lying on evergreens which has never been since first of January. We have also noticed that the moon has been going down in the morning very low in the North. An Irishman who lived in Artemesia once told me it was always cold when the moon set north of the Durham Road . The men report the snow fairly deep in the woods and roads are only fair: highâ€"up, and cut off badly, but everyone is at least fairly well. The Women‘s Institute is putting on a social evening in the Hall this Tuesday. Rev. Mr. Muir put on a picture show in Salem church on Monday evening. We had the pleasure of looking oâ€" ver the annual report of Amos church Dromore, and were pleased with their success in all departments. Yetwe noticed many of the old family names missing, while other have multipliâ€" ed, such as the Hoopers, the Eccles‘, Taylors and Leiths. Sixty years ago there would be only one representaâ€" tive of those families. We also noâ€" ticed that the Taylor family had the most missionary spirit, an old famâ€" ily trait. We hope you will all do a little better in 1940, at Amos. Elroy Harrison and Gordon Mcâ€" Nalty spent the weekend in the city. cwiwWwTAanN PARK A ND VICINIIY A serious accident befel Mr. Thos. Banks last Monday while cutting wood at Mr Dan McArthur‘s. The tree lodged then fell on his foot cutâ€" ting it badly. 18 stitiches were put in by the doctor and he is now doâ€" ing as well as can be expected. Mr and Mrs Herb Allen, Glenelg, were in town on Saturday last and judge their agonized surprise when they were told by a telephone mesâ€" sage from a neighbor that the house they had left that morning was desâ€" troyed by fire. A passerâ€"by had noâ€" ticed flames coming through the roof and made a rush to the scene only to find that inside was a roaring furnâ€" ace and he too late to save anything. Miss Bessie Telford visited with Guelph and Toronto friends last week. IN DaÂ¥s v ruat (from Review fyle, March 4th, 1915) THE DUKHAM THIS NEWSPAPER, 1 Year, and your choice any Two in group.
