The youth had been employea at Dirstein‘s sawmill, and had been rolling logs into a tank of boiling water with a pike pole. In some manner the pole slipped and the young man was thrown into the scalding liquic up to his hips. Felâ€" low workmen lost no time in helpâ€" ing him out and he was rushed to the hospital at Hanover where he was found to have suffered a severe scalding of both legs up to his hips and of his arms and shoulders. On Tuesday, 1st June, 1915, at the home of his son Alex, James Ross, pioneer of Egremont passed away in his 95th year, having been born in Aberdeen, Scotland, on 19th July. 1820.
