In thorough bred cattle three of the entries were made by Mr. ' J oshms Modeland, who deserves credit for, t his enterprise ', introducing such fine 1 animals into the township. In other cattle l there were some very good milch cows. , A fine pen of hogs was shown by Wm Me. Learn. and a. well-bred young boar, only four and a half months old, was exhibited by Joseph McArdle. and in few good pigs by John Porter. The grain far exceeded any in the pest, and showed great improv. ment in Proton this year. Fall wheat sp- pem's to be doing well here now. The display of roots was good, dairy produce was abundant, and domestic manufactures and ladies work would do credit toany township. Tho chief exhibitors in grain and roots were R. Onions were good, l particularly 1st and 2nd prize ones. Growl . was fairly represented, the pens were nice . and clean, there being 4 bags. The 1st ' prize barley was of an excellent color, five entries. There was a good display of white , and black oats. Fall and spring wheat ', was a nice sample. There was a good dis. play of apples and crab apples and two plates of plums. In apples “Lady's blush" took the 1st prize. Peers were well repre- sented. Beets, cabbage, and citions were very huge. Table carrots were rather in, _ ferior in quality. There were e number ot entries of field carrots and turnips, but they were mostly small in size. Celery, corn, l and pal-snipe were good. Awell made sett , of harness was shown. On going up stairs we noticed a. very fine organ. Mr. Wm. Doll, of Flesherton had e nice case of ' jewellry and a. clock, on exhibition. A very beautiful feather wreath, a number of handsome quilts, fancy knitting, knitted stockings, mitts, rag nuts. home-mule I bread, two specimen's of sampler work, home-made flannel, etc.. were on exhi- bition in this room. From an early hour in the forenoon vehicles of various descriptions might be seen going to the village on the various roads leading to it, and by noon . very large number of people had collected. The show of horses, cattle, sheep and pigs was held in a field on the face of the hill down near the river. Some very good ihorses were on the ground.
