Ammoxtsa.â€"No honsekeeper should be without a bottle of spirits of ammonia, for, besides its medicinal value, it is invaluable for household purposes. It is nearly as useful as soap, and its cheapness brings it within reach of all. For cleansing paint, it is very useful. Put a teaspoonful of amâ€" momia to a quart of warm soapâ€"suds, dipin fiannel cloth, and wipe off the dust and fyâ€"specks, grime and smoke, and see for yourselves how much labor it will save. No serubbing will be needfal. It will d__ougâ€md brighten silver wonderfully ; to a pint of hot suds mix a teaspoonful of the spirit, dip in your silver spoons, forks, ete., rub with a brush, and then polish on chamois skin. For washing mirrors and windows, it is also very desirable; put a few drops of ammonia upon a piece of newspaper, and you will readily take off any spot or fingerâ€"rMark on the glass. It will take out greaseâ€"spots from any fabric ; put.on the ammonia nearly clear, lay blotâ€" tingâ€"paper over the place, and press a hot flat iron on it for a few moments. A few i xf’olflu lacos a iten, xaï¬f o musling. ‘Then ;t is & most refreshing agent at the toiletâ€"table ; a few drops in a basin of water will make a better bath than pure water, and if the skin is oily, it will remove all glossiness and also disagreeable odours. "For eleaning hair and nail brushes it is equally will oo;ne out of the bath white and clean. For medicinal purposes ammonia is almost palatable. In addition t> all these uses, the effects of ammonia on vegetation are beneficial. If you desire your roses, geâ€" raniums, fuchsias, etc., to become more flourishing, you cau try it upon them, by awiding five or six drops of it to every pint of warm water that you give them; but don‘t repeat the dose oftener than once in évery five or six days, lest you stimulate them too highly. Rainâ€"water is impregâ€" pated with ammonia, and thus it refreshes and vivifies vegetable life. So be sure and keep a large bottle of it in the house, and have a glass stopper for it, as it is very evanescent and also injurious to corks, catâ€" unrivalled. ~ For the headache it is a deâ€" sirable stimulant, and frequent inhaling of its pungent odours will often entirelyâ€"reâ€" move eatdrrhal cold. ‘There is no better remedy for heartâ€"burn and dyspepsia, and the aromatic spirit of ammonia is especialâ€" ly preparcd for these troubles. ‘Ten drops of it in a wineâ€"glass of water are often a great relief. .
