W, Jones, of Durham, gave‘ some instrumental selections on guitar | and mouth organ. He will have to: appear here again. Mr. R. Parker, of Durbam, sang two selections in his usual able style. _A duett by Miss King and Mr. Glanville, and a song by the‘ born comic Mt. T. H. Ellis were both well received. The farce "Paddy Myles" by Misses Fleming and Calyert, and Messrs. Ellis, Periy, Clark, King and Rodgers delighted the bhouse though some excresences in language marred good acting. The eyent of the evening was, however, Insp. Camphell‘s lecture. He won golden opinions for able presenâ€" tation of Forestric principles. He began with referring to some modern features of social life which were likely in the near futmwme to cause a social upheaval. Combination was one feature, and was the refuge of the rich while coâ€"operaâ€" tion was the refuge of the poor. The I. 0. F. and other societiee were inâ€" stances of the latter movement. . Foresâ€" try gave fraternity in health or sickness, opportunity of social moral and intellectâ€" ual cultuwre, and was superior to old line companies in the matter of sick beaefits. Mr. C. is not an old Forester but his address proves him entitled to his honors as a P. D. H. C. R. Mr, Waliter Hastie oceupied the chair and will be happy as presiding officer to initinte new members at charter rates during the month of June. _ The mecting closed with the National Aunthem. On Wednesday the 20th of May Mr. Alex. Carson and Miss Tena McLean were married at Priceville by the Rev. Mr. McLeod. _ After the ceremony the h"l]’l’." pair started for a short trip cast and returned on Friday following when a numerous company of their friends assembled to bid them a welcome home. Mr. Henry was the promoter of the reâ€" ception which was a great success, Mr. John McLean left for his new home in Dulath, Minn. on Thursd y the 2Ist May. Hope he will have a good trip.
