Mr. R. Parker is at presont on a business trip to Angus and v ord is expected daily from him, His fa ther left for Toronto this morning to con: fer with his son G«orge, and thns the «us nense will soon be Lroken. If the story is correct there can be no doubt of foul play as the idea of suicide is out of t! e yuestion in a young man of Angus‘ tem: perament. _ We syimpathise with the friends and will add no more till further news is obtained. â€"_Soctat GATHERi®NG,â€"OUn Friday evenâ€" ing t.he 28th inst. the members of the C, E. The information was given us as reliable news and we regret to find that the charge was false. _ We therefore frankly acknowledge the immistake and reâ€" gret that Mr. Langrill has been placed tg, fore the pullic in a false position. Gr e« . iregi .o oo STAFF OF NINE SPECIALISTS. ‘ The thieves haye been caught. Mr. Laidlaw used the wires Sunday where K‘lnces could be caught, and early on onday word came from â€" Neustadt that they had been seen,. Mtr. Laidlaw drove off to Neustadt and was on their tracks to Harriston,. Not finding them, he returned to Neustadt and wired to Harriston ; and a constable there sueâ€" ceeded in arresting them. Meanwhile Chief Carson and Constable Whelan had been doing some good detective work and before long had them in possâ€" ession. â€" They brought them captives to Durham, and lodged them for an hour or so in the lock up. They were then brought Lefore a hnch of Magistrates consisting of Messrs Jas. Edge, W. H. Nockler, and W. Calder. The prisoners pleaded not guiliy and elected to be silent till tried by a jury, The constaâ€" bles gave the stery of the capture, the watch which belonged to Mr. T. Barclay was found on them and identified by that;gentleman, 4 watchchains were foug@ upon them, and Mr. Laidlaw eastlyFidentified his clothes. 'l‘h}{ had been given a meal by Mr. Geo. Wilson of the Sawwmill, North Egremont, and heidentified them. So it seems to be a clear case. They were sent to Owen Sound to await their trial at the forthcoming assizes, ago." SAVED MY LIFE. Chief Carson secured the tickets which they had removed from the new garments, and by these the kind of goods is known. This clue is being worked upon and by the aid of the wires it is hofied the rascals will be captured though they chose a good time to prevent a search being made, The burglary was not discovered till afternoon Sunday, when one of the fam ily going to the store found a cont, pants, shirt, old hat, and two pairs of old boots lying on the floor. These the burglars had replaced by new ones from the stock around them, and had also appropriated some %ln\'vs. Certain inâ€" cidents point to the belief that the burglars were familiar with the place. 15 watch chains, a watch, some brooches and other trinkets were removed. On Saturday night between 11 p. m. and Sunday, Mr. Laidlaw‘s store was entered burglariously, the thieves havâ€" ing found their way to the cellar and forced a door up into the store. _ Owrx SoUND FaiIr.â€"In our advertisâ€" ing column will be found the first afterâ€" noon‘s programme of the above Fair.
