L Durham Bentinel Glenelg (6 ALL THE CANDIDATES IN THE MUD Surprises, of course, were not few, not the least is the fact that the large township of Bentinck las not got one of the representatives of the Co. Counâ€" cil, Durham and Glenelg capturing one cach. It was thought generally that Biunie would head the poll, but McKinnon has surprised his supporters even, by capturing first place with 98 to spare _ Binnie comes next and these two will represent this district for the next <iwo years _ We extend our hearty congratualations to cur townsâ€" man on thke magnificent vote he rolled up, and to both on their success. DBrighaim and Messenger made a close run, Brigham‘s strength in Hanâ€" over being a surprise, as is the fact that he beats Messinger. Speculation as to where Putherbough‘s 313 votes would have gone, if he had been out, is common, and it seems certain they would have gone chiefly to Binnie, MeKinnon, and Brigham, and the result would not likely have been different. But here is the vote. Ward McK Bin R»ri Mae Dt MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS Monday last was the antipodes of an ideal winter day. Rainy weather, muddy _ roads, mild temperature. Following are the figures by wards: MAYOR. REEVE. N. waid 48 E. ward 52 W. ward 88 It some districts receive attention from the winning men in proportion to the support they gave him, such atâ€" tention would be a small quantity However such districts need have no fear. This peculiar election will run voting always to sectionalism, and members elect will consider this and do full justice, The commonest mistake in ballot maiking was, we believe, in giying only one vote to one man, thus deprivâ€" ing their choice uf a good yote. ALLAX AND SCHENK ARE THE CHOICE. This division comprising the two fine municipalities of Egremont and Norâ€" manby each return a member. Allan‘s long career in Municipa‘! life is to be lengthened by two years. Normanby made a bold bid for both men, but Morice is left after a creditable run, doing better out of his own township than any of the other men. Had Norâ€" manby‘s villages "divvied " up beâ€" tween Morice and Schenk both would bave been in. However it is much better that each township should have a man. We haven‘t full returns but Messrs M. Richardson, Flesherton, and Geo. Watson, Swinten Park, are elected by large majorities. They will make a pair of good represer:atiye men, one coming from each township. We haye not heard from Proton.
