Mr. Brodie was Chairman. Mr. Benâ€" son, Markdale, gave some humorous representations of Irish character. The musical MecDonald was present with the piccolo and received much applause. Mr. John Nichol sings a good Seotch song st.ll. ‘The two Durham editors each were called on but the wand drill of 9 young ladies stands out as the most prominent feature. Dugald McLean‘s boots and shoes show no deterioration, He had no competitors, Mr. J. I. Graham showed a bigge: a«quash than any we have seen previ ously at this year‘s fairs. Mr. C. Watson wes juastly proud of his fine vegetables, his first prize tomatoces were beauties. And so did that homemade cheese shown by Mr. Jno. Melunis, and it was as good as it looked as we can testify. Spanâ€"D â€" Harrow, Dan Campbell. Brood mareâ€"J McPhail. 2 yr n'l)d â€"J MePhail, Win Patton. 1 yroidâ€"J Mecâ€" Phail. ,_Dep. Reeye MceMillan takes a warm interest in the Show and fine poultry is one of his chicf aims, Did the wet morning keep S terson away ? Mr. Peter Watson is one of the chief pushers, and shows some fine stuff, his maple molasses looked toothsome. We were pleased to meet with Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Hornsby, from Penetangâ€" uishene who have been visiting round the old home. The years are dealing lightly with them. Mr. D. MeNichol M.P.P., met many of his constituents from the three adâ€" JjJoining townships. Milch cowâ€"R Oliver, AYRSHINES. The prize list wi.l tell its own tale. Will some one next year please try and make it lively for Wim. Meads in the Cotswold Class? We are sure he would like it. A. Muir hadn‘tquite all his own way in the Leicesters, and did you ever see such a duecl as that beâ€" tween Geddes and Oliver in the Fine Wool Class! Treas. Brodie in the Grain Class runs off with ihe best g‘rich, and this "feature of Artemesia eiety" in truit and other lines is very proininent. This will be remedied when the new Hall which the Directors are aiming at is built. Quite a numberof the Show‘s suppor:ers are pulting their shoulder to the wheel and the Township of Artemesia is assisting, though we think very gingerly it we are rightly inâ€" formed that #15 is the lim‘t of their generosity. _ Egremont aud Proton and especially Glenelg should all do a little to help a show drawn partly trom their bounds, but its none of our business. The exhibits were shown in Watson‘s Hall while the stock was on the school ground, a feature which prevents more trom seeing both parts of the Show that at any other place we know of. And through a drizzling rain, horses, cattle, sheep, pigs and their owners tound their way and the result was that the Show, though not what it would have been in sunshine, was yet well up to the average if not beyond it. GENERAL PURPOSE HORSES Tuesday of last week the glorious weather invited a large number of exâ€" hibitors of inside strif to appear, and thus made an attraction to draw them out Wednesday morning. This romantic little village, the first that the Saugeen‘s water courses through, has not many * big days" in the year, and easily the chief is the Annua! Show of the Artemesia Suciety. Wilfred Laurier achieved his greatest triumph last week. Quebec, | Montreal and even Ottawa we might ‘expect would demonstrate in honor #ot’ one near to them by ties of religion and kindred, but Toronto, an English ‘speaking Tory city, abounding with Orangemen even, tor Toronto to render | him such an effusive welcome is cer tainly a triumph. _ Few will say howâ€" _ever thet he does not deseryve it, perâ€" sonally and representatively he has acquitted himself with distinction, and ’five millions of pecple feei a new pride in their country owing to his efforts, a pride which few of his compeers could ; fiave produced even in the same situaâ€" tion. The public reception, the , banquet, and the reunion were all markeg by fine addresses, breathing a health Canadianism but which space torbid’; us to reproduce. * 1897 has been a year of honors to to him. A period of honest work ig now before him, and we confidently expect he will please the country with his doings, as well as he has done with his aiplomacy. Then again Toronto University has made him an L. L. D., and to have this distinetion conferred‘ by the Hon. Ed. Blake, was something that would stamp it in the Premier‘s mind as beâ€" yond all his other honors, and he so expressed himself. Mr. Chas, MeKimnon has s$one masons ensaged at presont building the new foundatiton of the new house which he inâ€" tends erecting this ftail on his farm. Is essential to * f Realth. Every nook B l ood and corner of the system is reached by the blood, and on its quality the condition of every organ deâ€" pends. Good blood means strong nerves, good digestion, robust health. Impure blood means scrofula, dyspepsia, rheuma~ tism, catarrh or other diseases. The surest way to have good blood is to take Hood‘s Barsaparillia. This medicine purifies, viâ€" talizes, and enriches the blood, and sends the elements of health and strength to every nerve, organ and tissue. It creates a good appetite, gives refreshing sleep and cures that tired feeling. Remember, Is the best â€" in fact the One True Blood Pnflfloi Hood‘s PiIlIS take, casy to operate. 2¢.
