Suddenly indeed did the call come to Mrs. Jas. Renwick, Yeovil. At, the regular morning duty of milking she was taken ill and as we learn from our Dromore Correspondent. in a few minutes she was dead. This was hurt Sunday. Mrs. Renwick was a. women of more than average intelligence. of a. ha py cheerful dispositio.p, akind and Ohflglellf neighbor, a loving and well belov mother by her yet unbroken family of 11 children, and as a devoted wife and companion of her husband for nearly half acentury, her loss to him is ineiilcu1tutle. The four daughters, Maggie, Mary Jane, Flora and Eliza are all married, the. ftrat named to Mr. Wm. Hastie former- ly of Dromore Meanwhile to the sorrowing rela- tives is given all human sympathy, and the Review adds its quota. Last Friday, Win. Thomas, third son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Dixon passed away. after an attack of appendicitis, which seems to he becoming' fearfully common, or else it is some old trouble under a, new name. Medical skill was procmed and an operation performed but without success, the disease having advanced too far. A healrhyintelligetii, boy of9yoars, his removal is a severe stroke tohis parents and family. We regret to learn that two more of their children have symptoms of the same disease hut we trust their restoration to health may soon come. Gloomier even than these is the death of Dr, Brown, of Holstein, who last Friday came to his death under circum- stances which point plainly to self de- struction. We' refer to this elsewhere. Not often has the hand of death been so busy as during; the last few weeks in our district. 'he call has (mum to the young as well as to those in mature years, ever sounding to humanity the warning note "Be ye also ready.” Mrs. Fuirman, a daughter and a son Cattle to town last Monday, and are "s- sisting Mr. Fairumn in the task of putting tt, new and comfortable interior to the British Hotel. McDonald to Mr. Fail-men, to whom a license has been granted. A hugely signed petition was presented urging the board to grant the license to the Central Hotel, Mr. Ryan, proprietor. Barristers Lucas, Markdale, and Batson. Mayor Calder and Mr, Crawford sup- ported the petition, but the board con- firmed their decision given twice before that the license was to go to the British since a suitable tenant, had been secured and had already moved his family and furniture in on the strength of their action at the second meeting. As a. man he was highly respected. and his skill as a physician was recognized during the iii years or more he has Frat-tired there. and genuine sorrow is elt, that his taking off has been m a manner so tragic and so sorrowful. The lemuins were renmved to Toon, burg where his family resides. The cause for the rush act is unknown but it in known that Dr. Brown‘s per- sonal habits forgottte years back, have been far from satisfactory. Various rumors of shooting got athrat, but it was soon learned that death had resulted from a dose of deadly prusaic acid, a. bottle. of which was in " hand or near it. Coroner Jones, Mt. Lust Friday news spread all over the riding, that the well known Dr, Brown, of Holstein had ended his life. We hope to hear more of this matter; nearly all are agreed that the move- ment isa wise one, and our Columns are open for the discussion of the sub- ject and especially for reeommenda. tions of a practical nature that may lead to action. Mr. McKechnie has pioneered the question as he has done others. Who will lend a hand in this step "pro bono publico ?" The subject of restocking our streams with trout, introduced so fully and ably by Mr. G. Mekeelmie in our issue of last week is worthy of prime [attention Not only is thisa source of natural wealth, it is as well a source of recreation and pleasure which large numbers enjoy, and which might bring to our district a share of the summer tourists and tsporttunan's traffie, with a corresponding commer- cial benefit.
