- The Brooklin Memorial Arena was built between 1948-1949 as a memorial to Whitby Township's soldiers who died in the First and Second World Wars. It was built by volunteer labour from buildings salvaged from Ajax after the Second World War. The arena was demolished in October 1972 after it could no longer meet the provincial arena building standards. It was replaced in 1972/73 with Luther Vipond Memorial Arena.
