Description
Black and white negative showing the removal of the original wooden western breakwater at Whitby Harbour.
Notes
In the summer of 1956, the western breakwater made of stone and log cribs was removed and replaced with a new breakwater constructed of stone and steel. The dock where the pier joined the breakwater was also reconstructed at this time. The remainder of the pier was rebuilt in 1958.
