- Notes
- In 1887, Samuel Trees and G.V. Martin purchased the Michael O'Donovan carriage factory on the block bounded by Brock, Dunlop, Byron, and Gilbert Streets and established a buckle factory called Martin Manufacturing Company.
In 1904, Martin Manufacturing Company was purchased by Fred Hatch who operated Hatch Manufacturing Company until 1929. Samuel Trees Junior then purchased the company and called Whitby Malleable Iron and Brass Company. The buckle factory was in operation until 1964 and the buildings were demolished in 1966. - Inscriptions
