- Charles Herbert Neal was born at Arthur Township on 20 May 1901. He moved to Whitby in the winter of 1928 and opened a barbershop on Brock St. N which he purchased from Ryerson Miller. Herb Neal's barbershop was located at 107 Brock St. N. until the building was demolished in 1964. The barbershop moved to 123 Brock St. N. where it remained until Neal's retirement in 1973.
Neal died at Ajax on 9 November 1996 and is buried at Mount Lawn Cemetery in Whitby. - Date of Original
