- Harold Mace was born in Toronto 16 August 1915 and came to Whitby in 1938 to work as an attendant at the Ontario Hospital. By the 1940s, he was president of the Whitby Branch of the Civil Service Association of Ontario and from 1951 to 1958 he was District Director of the Eastern Division of the CSA.
Mace eventually became secretary of the Board of Directors and in 1955 was the first Ontario delegate to the North American Convention of the CSA in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1958 he went on to become vice-president, and later president, of the CSA of Ontario. He retired as president in 1963 when he became the first employee relations officer for the Government of Ontario. In 1966, he was named president of the Metropolitan Toronto Chapter of the Public Personnel Association.
From 1948 to 1950, Mace served as a Whitby Town Councillor. He died at Whitby on 8 December 1979 and is buried at St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Whitby. - Date of Original
