VERA ANNE JOLLEY Employee of Canada Post in the SOs A resident of Whitby since 1959, Vera Anne Jol- ley' died at the Oshawa General Hospital on May 26, 1997. She was 78. A daughter of the late William McAllister and Martha Page, she was born at Port Hope on September 20, 1918. A waitress and employee of Canada Post, she lived in Oshawa from 1952 to 1959, and formerly in Toronto. Special guest soloist, Tom Edwards, Mayor of Wbitby, was a crown favorite. His resonant Welsh baritone voice soared in a rendition of "The Impossible Dream" and was roundly applauded. The last segment of the program included a Vaude- v ille Show with a sing-along heartily joined by the audience. ,Direcetor Barbara Breck- enridge, and pianist, Mar- * garet Webber, were ~hônored by the choir and * presented with hou- quets.The concert ended with a standing ovation by the audience and resound- ing applause by the choir in appreciation. Jubilee apologizes to the public for the absence of pre-concert advertising, but the concert was sold out before the in on the tickets was dry. Her husband, Leonard Jolley, brother Lawren Porter, son-in-law Bill Rid- deli and grandson Ryan Christie, died before her. Mrs. Jolley was at thé W.C. Town' Funeral Chapel, Whitby. Following the funeral service, inter- ment was in Groveside Cemetery, Whitby. She was 74. A daughter of the late Bill Potter and Stella May Harris, she was born at Whitby on April 3, 1923. Mrs. Deschamps was married on November 22, 1946 at Toronto, to Jo- sepb Elzear Peter De- scbamps, wvho died before ber. Sbe is survived by ber son, Josepb Jr.; daugbter, Linda Quan and ber bus- band William Sr.; brother Jimmy Potter and bis wife Mary; grandchildren Sbelly, Mary-Ann, Rachel and William Jr. and great grandcbildren Deanna. and Teneshia. Besides ber busband, a son, Ronald; sisters Char- lotte, Mary, Ruby and Violet and brothers Billie and Jack, died before her. Mrs. Descbamps was at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, Wbitby, wbere Captain Dean Locke of the Salvation Army con- ducted the funeral service on May 30, 1997, followed by interment in Grove- side Cemetery, Whitby.
