POLITICAL HODGEPODGE - Anonymous Liberal candidate Mike Lisko, who accused the N. D. P. ofmaking a threa- tening phone callI to his wife, certainly got plenty of radio mileage out of it.. r e m inds me of the indignant man who the priest found grurnbling under the church steps. "Some protestant stole my bottle of winel", the man told the wondering priest. "What makes you think the thief was protestant?", the grumbling man was asked. "If it ha d been a cathol ic father, I would be missing both bottles", was the indignant reply. In our Ontario Legislature, our a r e a has some "dings".(representa- t i v e s). Namely: t"Newman-Ding " and "P i 1Ik ey-DingI". Now they are trying to get a "Wing-Ding ". Post Office Espionage Just Won't Stick If you've b e e n f ol1l1 owing counc1il lately and know about the postal auth- ortie's proposed merge for the Oshawa and Whitby postal branches, then per- h a p s your susp i c ions were aroused w h e n you d i s c o v ered you could no longer obtain airgrams at the Whitby Post Office. But even though postal authorities doseem bent on the merger, and even though you thought the I ack of airgrams a subtle beginning of the Oshawa take- over, Oshawa, this time, is innocent. The real reason Whitby residents are being tol d to pick up their ar igrams at the Oshawa office is simply that the 1 ast order of airgrams sent to the W h i tby office weren't sticking prop- erly. "Customers were complaining, so we had them shipped back to head of- fice", says the Whitby Post Master. "In any case', though this is not a s u b t I e beginning of the Oshawa mer- ger", he assures.
