WHITBY FREE PRESS $25,0OO FEDERAL GRANT FOR 4 WHITBY RESIDENTS AWhitby man reported today that he has'been informed by a federal govern- ment spokesman that a Local Improve- ment P rogram grant of approximatel y $25, 000 to a recentiy-formed associa- tion inWhitby wiil be officialiy announ- ced shortly. Bobb Gibbs, of 1010 Dundas Street East, reported that he and three other Whitby residents formed an association cal led Community Conscience, toqualify for the grant. Mr. Gibbs, who organi- zed and man aged the $-46, 000 Durham T rail Project under the Opportunities f or Youth program 1 a st summer, sai d tha t 10 new jobs will be created until May 31, 1972. ln addition to the original four, six others wiil be hired on Janu- ary 17, after a month of study, planning and preparation.
