I Thef ts The Whitby PoliceDepartment was kept busy 1last Saturday investigating the theft of five bicycles. Two bikes were stolen from Kent Street, two f r o m Green Street and the fifth b i k e was taken from Fair- view Street. Police have since re- c o v e r e d the two bikes stolen from the Green Street area. The r e s t of the hol iday weekend was considered to be la good weekend' by police. On Sunday the theft of $130 from St. Bernards s c h o o 1 was reported and police were also called to the Willsresidence at 56 Thickson Road North where $200 worth of lacrosse equipment was stolen from the breeze- way beside the house. On Saturday Mr. T. Molyneaux re- ported his collie dog had been pois- e n e d. It was suspected the dog had been given strychnine. Police also investigated an acci- dent in the Brooklin area Satur day evening when a car pulled into a gas station, struck another vehicle broad- side and then left the scene of the accident. The suspect was later captured north of Whitby. Brenda Johnson of Oshawa was t ak en t o Oshawa General Hospital af ter she felloff a go-cart at the Go - cart track in Whitby. She was released a few hours later. Mr. R . H Turner of 105 Craydon Road cal led police to report the theft of two speakers, a stereo tape player and some stereo tapes. Later, on Monday, Mr. R. L. Lew i s was taken for treatment of injuries he suffered after falling off a l1adder whil1e scrap- ing paint at his home.
