" Answering a quest i o n about grants an d companies relocating, h e replied t h a t it w a s not true companies would buiId or relocate out of Canada if they d i d not receive a grant from Canada. He t e r m e d this "hogwash" and said a recent survey revealed that 70% of the c om panies applying for grants had ai- r e a d y made the decision to buil d in a ce rtain area and would have relocated in Canada whether they received a grant from the government or not. The chief's pitching role has become a tradition of the opening of the local season. After several warm- up pitches, which were accompanied by the cheers of the large crowd, Councillor Cox stepped into the bat- ter's box and displayed some fine form hitting the first pitch back to the mound and thel1972 season was officially un- derway.
