MOTORING with Mike Burgess Swiss Chalet Park, 12 miles east of Markham, was the location I as t Sun- day for the running of the second ev- e n t in t h e eight race series for the Mo1son1s Canadian Challenge Cup Aw- ards for off Road Racing. Aside f rom the beautiful setting, oneof the most unique features of the r ough , two-mile obstacle course is that nearly al1 of it is in fuli view of spectators at a I times. And on this course, the super modified race cars (un 1 i mi ted class 'cl) are capable of speeds weil over 100 mph. Each race day is made up of nine races ranging from eight laps to the feature race at 15 laps, with the cars beingclassedaccording toengine dis- placement and modifications. Whitby Tykes played an outstanding game, winning3-1. KelvinMask, in goal for Whitby was superb. After two per- iods of play, the game was tied 1-1. In the third period Whitby had two unan- swered goals. Coach Rick Wilkes had these boys playing I ike pros. If Saturday's game was any indication, it should be an out- standing season. In four games this team has had three wins and a tie, and. look s like a real winner. Goalie Rob Phillips, back after a year's absence, played an outstanding game. Joe Mac- Intyre, Allison, David Clarke and Dave Maguire scored the Whitby goals. The 1 on e Orillia goal was scored by Gam- mon.
