T h e work of t h e Whi tby YMCA not o f t e n publticized because of t h e very nature of its often bland assistance, is sincerely going about the sad business of t r y in g to raise funds to send sixty underprivileged Whitby children to its Summer Day Camp. Jus t $20 can send a childtotwo weeks of fresh air and sunshine at the ideal 75-acre Heber Down Conservat- ion area. For some families $20 for such a reason isout of the question when there is still milk and bread to buy for the entire family. And it is sometimes easy toforget, with the thousands being made so readily available to Satanist cuits and homosexual groups, that $20 is stil 1 hard comeby for families on welfaretosend a small son or daughter to summer camp. The Y i s hop ing to send sixty of these underprivileged, chit1dren to day camp where, along with the children of more affluent families, they can receive guidance and counselling i n a program w h i c h includes swimming instruction, spo r t s, hiking, crafts, nature lore, o v ernight camps and cook outs as well as indoor programs for rainy days. Any comp assionate Whitbyite can a p p r e c iate the concrete value of this YMCA program. But if you are sincere about your appreciation, you can per- h ap s convince your club o r family to send $20 to the Y's cause. That $ 2 0 will be no ordinary gift- i t represents $20 worth of fresh air an d sunshine for an underprivileged Whitby child! Harry lnkpen, Whitby. Answer TheWhitby Free Press editor spoke to Councillor Gerry Emm on Wednesday, J u n e 14. Councillor Emm indicated he would be pleased to answer your ques- tion a t a later time number 1, because he would I i k e to give it more thought, and # 2, because he would like to have a copy of your letter sent to him so th a t he could p er sonally send you a detailed letter which would probably bel too long to publish in the newspaper. Question I would like the Whitby Free Press to pose a question in its 'Reader's Forum' for me. I would like this question dir- ected toeither the pol ice department or th e meter man. Why is i t that certain p e r sons in Whitby can park from 9:00 ta 4:00 in the downtown of Whitby with- out ever donating a nickle to the park- ing metre without ever getting a traffic ticket, whi le others get a ticket for just stopping long enough for picking up a p a c k a ge at a downtown store. I can s u b s t a ntiate my claims about the 9 to 4 'free parker' with witnesses, dates, etc. C. Marshall, Whitby. "You're hired!" 0
