T he handicap for t he townts some 1 20 0 h o c key players is obvious, of course, w ith the recent arena clos- ure. Theswimming pool has been need- ed for a long time. But problems are as frustrating for the other sport associations. The lac- rosse box for instance require;-- almost total repairs every f ew years and the box is sorely in need of change room facilities. The present situation forces pilayers toattempt to change from street clothes to sports clothes by using ex- isting washrooms, private cars or the b ac ks of varîous bushes. The project i s being set up by a group of ded icated local people in order to suppi y the youth of Whitby with the proper facilities they need. The important thing nowv is keeping al ive the enthusiasrrîof our young sports buffs. The move for acomprehensive sports recreat ion centre i s one that makes good, sense. Nothing i s t oo good for the kind of sports talent that this towvn is only beg- inning to demonstrate.
