No. 12) take No. 69 to No. il anid tlhen back on No. 69, two hours and one hundred miles later you will find yourselt an the west shore aof Lake Mus- koka and in a ittie resort town called Bala. Me and a few thousand others found aurselves attracted to Bala last weekend for the running of the annual Western Ontario and Canadian National Charn- pionship Hydroplane races. Over sixty-five hydroplane racers were out ta compete ini six classes on the ane-mile aval course, with mators ranging from 1 5 cubic inch stockers, to the big 61 cubic inch 'Merc's' on the Grand Prix's - capable of speeds in excess of 100 mph! Besides the hydroplane races, there were water skiing shows Saturday and Sunday including skiing flying, and dances on Friday and Saturday nights. It was a phatographer's Paradise! ,Our only local representative was Scott Burns of Osaadriving a Mercury powered A-Stock Run- about (utility boat). Scatt's ten-foot boat was hame- built and will do better than 50 mph. The campetitian was tough, but a well-fought battle earned aur lad his riglit ta th 'ird place. This Sunday (August 2!7th) Oshawa Competition Motorcycle Club will be hosting an Endura. Registra- tian will be at 9 a.m. at the Pickering High Schaol, and the Endura is scheduled ta start at 10 a.m. At time of this writing, it is still unknown how many miles the track will be, but it has' been estab- lished that a 30 mile per hour average wauld be used. A limit of sixty riders has been set with last year's class structure being used again. Classes consist of a lighit weight and heavy class, and a novice and senior class.
