The Whitby club jumped into an early lead as Doug Wood scored at the 51 second mark of the first period. By the tinie the first period end- ed the Tiremen had been outshot 13-6, outscored 3-1 and outmuscled by the Bob- cats. The Belleville club scored two more goals in the second period,while allowing Whitby only one. The second Whitby goal came off the stick of Bob Mowat. Mike Harper beat the Bobcats netminder cleanly at 15:29 of the second period, as he deked the defense and let a blistering slapshot go. The puck entered the net, hit the post in the back of the net and bounced back out. The goal judge signalled a goal, and the referee blew the whis- tic. At this point in the gamne the Tiremen were down 5-2 and skating hard. A goal at this point looked good for the Whitby club, but the refere decided ta caIl it "No Goal." .The Tiremen outscored the Bobcats 3-1 in the final per- iod, but they were still one goal behind as the siren wcnt to end the game.
