Gord Brown supplied the netminding required for the shut-out, while team-mates Jeff Dinsniore, Mike Piho, Ed Hayden and Gilbent Nieuwen- dyk handled the scoring for the Lumbermen. Earlien in the week at the Ajax Arena, the Brooklin- Whitby teami evened the series up at one garne each as they defeated the Ajax boys by a score of 5-2. Donald Travel WHI'TBV WHITBY RECREATION ADVISGRY BOARD The fine recently elected members of Whtby's newest advisory board - Whltby Recreation Advisory Board - are beginning to do their homework 1 At the two meetings the board has heid since its inception February 7th, learning about and understanding plans that are already underway by the recreation department and the town council, have been stressed as the most important role the board can fulfili at this time. To realize its commitment to the citizens of Whitby as being a liaison board between town council and the members of the community, members of the board feel that maintalning an open line of communications with ail interest groups is a policy that can't be stressed strongly enough. Letters are being sent to ail organizations presently listed at the recreation department office, asking for their support in keeping the board aware of their facilities, needs and proposais for improved recreation. It is, the intention of the board to invite representatives 0f ail organizations to meet in small croup sessions throughout the year to enable at Brooklin Arena on Wednes- day, and the Steelers came up with a 5-1 win. Dale Sawyer opened the scoring for the Steelers in the first period as he took a pass from Scott Ravary and beat the Cobourg netniinder with a hard shot. Greg Tushinghami made il 2-0 on a pass fnom Paul Brown and Doug Zinkiewich. Thie visitons finally got on the scoresieet at 16:20 of the first period as Ralph Lewis beat the Steelers' netminder. Both teams were uniable to score in the second peniod, but the final period was only 35 seconds oîd when Paul Brown sconed for the Steelers. Ajax jumped into a lead at 8:00 of the open- ing period, but Jim Branton put the Brooklin-Whitby team back on even terms as he scored fnom the point with a hard slapshot at 8:40. The Ajax club narrowed the margin to 3-2 at 11: 56 of the period, and then pulled their goaltender in the final minutes of the- game, but could flot get the equalizer. Bob Heron Farm Equip.
