For Dearborn Whitby Canadian Tirei Despite dropping three out of four games played last week the Whitby Canadian Tiremnen gained what could be one of their biggest wins of the young season as they nipped the powerful Tony's team from Oshawa 3-2 right ini Oshawa. The win for Whitby was a four pointer and marked the first win for coach Larry Batherson and bis charges. On Tuesday night Cobourg dumped the sparce hitting Witby entry 7-O at the Whitby Town Park. Bill Cane, the taîl good-looking chucker froni Cobourg limited the Whitby crew to but two hits, a scratch bunt by Mike Taylor and then a powerful three bagger by John Vesters. The latter was out as he attempted to stretch the hit into a home run. Cobourg struck fast and hard as the first batter Steve Ling singled and Pete Harrison homered for a 2-O lead. Tony's got a pair of lhits in the third along with a free pass and led 1-O. The score stood that way until the Tiremen really started to roll in the sixth. Vesters singled, Brett fanned, Ken Hoffman singled, Mike Taylor singled scoring the equalizer, Jim Closs fanned but Rick Cole singled sbarply to the rigbt field and two more runs scored, Gould flyed to deep Ieft for the third out. It was 3-1 for the Tiremen and the Wbitby bencb was buzzing as the fellows took to the field for the final inning. It was tbree up and as many' down for Whitby in their. haîf of the 7th. For Tony's it was do or die.
