He was chosen from 24 applicants by the Ajax Council's Protective Services Committee. They came from ail over the Province and were narrowed down to four before the final decision was made. île appointment was made to fi the vacancy left by the resignation of the former Fire Cief last September. Mr. Evans joined the Fire Departrnent sbortly after he - moved to Ajax in 1956.
