The Rand Tire Distributors on Wentworth Street, Oshawa were broken into and two tires and rims were stolen frorn the company and sold accord- ing to the evidence presented to the Court by Crown Attorney Edward HowelI. Mr. Flubbard plcaded guilty to the charge of cultivating cannibus marihuana. Last July the Federal Officers in company with the area Police Officers investigated a residence in Pickering. There they found two rows of plants growing in the yard. Mr. liubbard admitted that the plants he was cultivating were marihuana plants. He hiad obtained some seeds and planted the marihuana sceds. A Govern- ment certificate of analysis confirmed the fact that the plants under cultivation were "Indeed marihuana plants." Federal Prosecutor Taylor, requested thelCourt to consider "a period of probation for the accuscd to' curb his impulses. The accused often indulges in these efforts more as a lark", he said. "'This tirmn has been notified to be here today and it is not," said Provincial Court Judge H.W. Jermyn as he fincd Harmac Industries Limited, Charles Street, Whitby $200 on an income tax charge. A plea of not guilty was entered and the trial proceeded with the accused firm's representatives being absent. It was a case of proceeding with the "hearing in absentia."
