In previous years Doug patrolled the outfield for' the Knights of Columbus tyke club and the Legionaires pee-wees, but. last season began h is conversion to catcher and conversion to catcher and went behind the plate more regularily where the opposition soon gained respect for his fine throwing arm. Doug is oneof the strongest members of the club and his size is a plus when he is blocking the plate from the runners. Ne is one of the clubs power hitters going frequently for extra bases. Doug bats and throws right and was a, member of the 1970 edi- tion of the Knights of Columbus club which cap- tured'the Ontario Tyke 'A' titfe. When he is not behind the mask Doug has taken a turn in the out- field this season. They have formed a skeeler hockey league for "lIittie brothers" between the ages of 7 to 14. Big Brothers are men who devote several hours a week to fatherless boys, and are responsible for getting the boys to gaines, plus coaching a.nd refereeîng. The skeeler hockey league for Big Brothers in Toronto is hopefuily the first step towards establishing Big Brother skeeler leagues right across Canada. If the league is a success in Toronto, it could go nationwide ey league perimen t next year. The league is de- signed to allow "littie brothers" to compete in an organized activity during the summer months.
