Claringbold was respond- ing to a question raised by Councillor Gerry Emm as to why the, town bought auto parts from Oshawa dealers instead of giving local outiets the business. Claringbold said that, when a works department truck breaks down, parts are usually needed îmmediately. The deputy-treasurer said that in the past, the works department h-as flot been able to get parts immediately through local dealers. It is quicker to send a member of the town's staff to Oshawa to pick them up, lie said. At their last meeting, Whitby Council decided to demolish. a Brooklin building gutted ' by a- fire on Hallowe'en. The building located at. the corner of Baldwin and Cassels is a deserted barbershop.
