On Thursday, the Macs were stung 4-1 by the last place Cambridge Hornets al the Iroquois Park Arena. Don Vipond led the way for the visitors with two goals while Bob Channell helped set up three. -Vipond opened the scor- ing at 1:41 of the first period when he caught Whitby goal- tender Bruce Durno going the wrong way. Vipond connected three minutes later when he slapped a rebound out of the air past a startled Durno. Whitby argued, to no avail that the puck was knocked in with a high stick. Wayne Weller, returning to the Macs' ineup after a severe shoulder înjury, flicked a shot from the face- off cîrcle which deflected in off goaltender Bob Dupuis' stick hand glove. Despîte the three goals; stiff bodychecks highlighted the period. Cambridge's Gord* Tucker notched the only marker In ,the middle frame when he scored into a near-cmpty net. Durno was out of position after stopping a blueline drive off the stick of Pat Bester. Whitby's Bob Munro was serving a hooking penalty at the imne. Both netminders sparkled in that peri'd. Cliff Stuart iced the- vic- tory for Cambridge midway through the third frame when he fired a wrist shot past Durno. Dupuis made the save of the game when he kicked out a point-blank drive. On Saturday, the Macs returned the favor as they dumped Cambridge 6-4 in Cambridge. Carl Ahisten, Doug Tatc, Wayne WeIIer, Gord McGosh and Ed Philpott' scored for Whitby. Bruce Durno played in net for the Macs and had a busy evening. He made 28 saves and picked up three minors and a misconduct. Whitby hosts Napanee tomnorrow and travel Lo the Cornets' home arena on Sun- day. IWhitby McDonalds' Gary Milroy will compete on the Senior A' all-sta r squad that wilt play a touring Soviet team January 4 in Barrie.
