Their first game against Peterboro was a real cliff hanger. At the end of regu- lar time, the score was tied at 2. Both C.B.C. goals were scored by Ed Szczur. At the end of the 10 min- ute sudden death overtime the score was still tied. Both teams then had to pick three players to take penalty shots. Each team scored once in their.first three attempts with Dave Sorichetti scoring for the C.B.C.'s. Each team had to take a total of 12 penalty shots with B.W.'s Glenn Atkinson scor- ing the winner to give the team a 4-3 victory. in their second game they easily outclassed their op- ponents from Brampton pick- ing up a 5-0 victory on goals by Tini Brown, Tom Foster, Paul -Johnston, Dan Jordan and Ed Szczur. B.W. goalie Tom Connelly was knocked unconcious ear- ly in the game but came back to make several key saves to earn the shut-out. This win put the C.B.C.'s into the "A" Championship against Belleville who event- ually became the champions on the strength of a 2-1 vic- tory. The C.B.C's held a 1-0 lead going into the third peri- od but the Belleville boys never gave up and tied the score and then the winner. Both teams gave it their all but there can only be one winner and the fates willed it be Belleville. Dave Sorichetti scored the lone goal for the C.B.C.'s. Harry Forbes had ithe lat- trick for the C.B.C.'s with singles coming from the sticks of Tim Brown and Glenn Kinzie. The marksmen for Bay Ridges were John Noble with 2 and Dennis Andrews. The Brooklin-Whitby Big Mac Major Bantam Allstars were runnersup in a weekend tournament played at Aurora. It was the second consecu- tive tournament in which the Macs have won the consola- tion prize. The locals started off on the right foot with a 4-1 opening game victory over Brampton. Greg Tushingham, with two goals, was named player of the game. Dale Sawyer and Peter Foran each scored singles. Neil MacLean replied for the losers. In their second contest, the Macs doubled the score on Barrie, winning 4-2. John Waddell's hattrick earned him star of the game. Greg Tushingharn aided Whitby's cause with a single. Boys a[ Bill Johnson scored both of Barrie's goals. In the third and final game the Macs were edged 4-3 in overtime by Richmond Hill. The- winner's goals were scored by Phil Wood, Blair Lewis,,Tom Pedin and Dave Garrard. Dale Sawyer, Greg Tushingham and James Roacli found the range for Whitby. AI Hartford tended the Macs' net for all three con- tests. The Whitby Mal] Florist Novice Allstars remain unde- feated this season after two recent wins. Two goals by Joey Nie-' wendyk paced the Florists to a 4-2 verdict over Bay Ridges. Dave Donaldson and Mark Sweetland scored singles. Stuart Carson and Tom Reid hit for Bay Ridges. It was Bay Ridges' first loss of the year. Soon after, Whitby tra- velled to Oshawa's larman Park where they edged the Little N.H.C. Canadiens 3-2. Warren Smith and Bobby Middleton tallied singles while Bob Bell, Greg Wosley and Brad Smith replied for the losers. In a contest at Bowman- ville, Mitchell Brothers got goals from Warren Smith, Bobby Middleton and Billy Eyre to tie the home team 3-3. Mark Abbott, Kevin Tink and Tin Almond scored for Bowmanville. Then it was back to Brooklin where the peewees edged the Malton Jets 3-2. Todd Chasczewski, John Ellis and Gary McCoy found the range for the winners. The allstars travelled to the Don Beer Arena where they chalked up an easy 9-1 victory. Keith Wilson and Dennis Jacobs each scored twice while singles went to Jeff Dinsmore, Eddie Derks, Gil- bert Niewendyk, Jeff Flem- ing and Eddie Hayden. The locals were less than perfect hosts when the two teams met in Brooklin three days later. Ed Derks scored the hat- trick in a 9-3 win - Gilbert Niewendyk had a pair and Eddie Hayden, Dennis Jacobs and Paul Hunt each had one.
