By ail accouints, it was a most successful evening, and the amount ot money that wil be turned over to the Heart Fund should be significant Just the sale of tie roses at the door, netted some $75.00 according to West Lynde's Heart Fund man, Bill Hoffman. "D.K. the D.J." set the tone for the evening by laying down platters for ail. We boogaiooed, strolled, charles- toned, polkaed, hopped, afid even bunny-hopped through a most enjayable evening. "D.K." sensed the mix of the crowd and did a great job. The crowd itself was loaded with dignataries. At tie table next to us was His Honour Mayor Newman and Mrs. Newman and Councillor and Mrs. James Gartshore. With the Hoffmans were Mr. and Mrs. Ron McEachern of the Corridor Ratepayers Association and Councillor Gerry Emm. It was a night that Whitby came together in support of a good cause and to ail involved a tip of dhe hat for a job well donc. Asscssment On February 12, Premier Davis and iiost of his collea- gues in the Ontario Cabinet are coing to Oshawa for a public meeting. As part of the trip, Revenue Minister Arthur Meen will be dining with memnbers of the executives of the W.L.C.A. and the Corridor Ratepayers' Association. It should be a most interesting supper given Mr. Meen's responsibility for assessment in the province. 1 will be there and will give you a blow by blow account in my column on Fcbruary l9th. While I'm at it, bcginning at 8:00 p.m. there will be a reception (coffee and .ionuts) at "Parkwood" on Simncoe Street North in Oshawa. Delegates from Cancer Society units and 'districts across Ontario attended a two day cumpaign conference at Toronto's Inn on tic Park, January 25 and 26, 10 organ-' ize for the April fund-raising drive. Speuking to the 600 vol- unteers, Division Cunipaign Chairman, Mike Wilson of Toronto saîd this year's ob- jective, tic largest ever, "is made up of many thousands of donations made by almost one million people tirougi- oui Ontario".
